Mission

The Superintendent is responsible for the technical management, maintenance coordination, and procurement activities of a fleet of workboats. The role ensures vessel availability, compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and cost-effective purchasing of spares, consumables, and services.

This dual role combines technical supervision with procurement efficiency, ensuring smooth operations and optimized costs across the fleet.

 

 

Key Responsibilities :

 

 

Technical Management

  • Oversee the daily technical operations of assigned vessels, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant performance.
  • Plan and coordinate routine and preventive maintenance schedules with vessel crews and shore teams.
  • Conduct vessel inspections and prepare reports on condition, performance, and maintenance needs.
  • Supervise dry-dockings, repairs, and modifications; prepare technical specifications and budgets.
  • Liaise with classification societies, flag authorities, and port state inspectors to ensure full compliance with applicable regulations.

 

Procurement & Supply Chain

 

 

  • Source, evaluate, and purchase technical spares, lubricants, stores, and services for the fleet.
  • Negotiate contracts, price agreements, and delivery terms with suppliers and service providers.
  • Develop and maintain supplier databases, ensuring quality and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor inventory levels, control logistics, and optimize supply chain operations for vessels in various locations (UAE, GCC, or international).
  • Review and approve purchase orders, ensuring adherence to company budgets and procedures.

 

Financial & Reporting

 

 

  • Prepare maintenance and purchasing budgets for assigned vessels.
  • Monitor expenditure and report variances against budgets.
  • Contribute to fleet performance KPIs, cost control measures, and operational improvement initiatives.

 

HSE & Compliance

 

 

  • Ensure all operations comply with company QHSE policies and maritime regulations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture onboard and within the technical department.
  • Support incident investigations and implement corrective actions when required

Profile

Qualifications & Experience

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent maritime discipline.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in vessel technical management, preferably with workboats, tugs, or offshore support vessels.
  • Strong knowledge of classification and flag requirements.
  • Proven experience in procurement, vendor management, and cost control.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance and purchasing systems (MARAD would be a plus).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English.
  • UAE or GCC experience preferred..
